Biography
Geeta Basra, a huge fan of Madhuri Dixit had this childhood dream of making it big in Bollywood. She was born to emigrant Punjabi parents in London, UK. This talented beautiful actress gave a stage performance when she was barely two years old. Since her childhood, she used to watch Madhuri Starrer films and tried to mimic her.Geeta Basra was desperate to do the lead role in "Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hun" when it was planned. But she missed it as she was still in Portsmouth, UK at that time. The lead role in the movie was played by the stunning beauty Antara Mali.Geeta Basra moved to Mumbai when she was seventeen and joined the acting school as any other Bollywood aspirant. She joined Kishore Namit Kapoor's acting school, where the likes of Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan were trained. Upon completion of the training she hired a manager for herself and left for London, UK.
Her dream of Bollywood Stardom got a huge boost when her manager introduced Geeta Basra to one of the leading Bollywood director's Aditya Datt.Geeta Basra's dream of acting and dancing like Madhuri Dixit had ultimately come true after she was signed as the lead actress for the Bollywood multistarrer "Dil Diya Hai" opposite Emraan Hashmi, Ashmit Patel, Udita Goswami and Mithun Chakraborty. In the movie Dil Diya Hai she plays the role of a young bubbly girl that suits her to perfection. The film didn't make it big at the box office, but Geeta Basra has already teamed up with Shyam Bajaj and bagged a lead role that revolves around her in the movie "The Train" opposite Emraan Hashmi. In this movie she plays the character of a mature businesswoman.Geeta Basra's curve in Bollywood surely seems to be on the way up as it is said, besides "The Train" she signed many multistarrer projects with some of the leading directors in Bollywood. Well time would tell whether this amazingly beautiful actress can match her idol Madhuri Dixit or who knows maybe emulate her one day.
